Professor M.R. Jisnuson Svasti Outstanding Protein Scientist of Thailand Award

Concept

Over the last 20 years, protein research in Thailand has developed greatly, leading to the foundation of the Protein Society of Thailand (PST), which was formally registered in 2006. The Professor M.R. Jisnuson Svasti Outstanding Protein Scientist of Thailand Award (MRJS Outstanding PST Award) is proposed to recognize outstanding researchers in protein science, promote protein research, and increase the visibility of the Protein Society of Thailand. This award is being initiated with an Endowment from Emeritus Professor M.R. Jisnuson Svasti, the first President of the Protein Society of Thailand in 2017.

Award
1.
The Outstanding PST Award will be awarded regularly to recognize scientists with outstanding research in or related to protein science.
2.
The Award will have a value of 40,000 baht plus plaque of recognition.
3.
Typically, only one awardee will be selected, but in the event that two candidates have equal merit, the award may be shared by two recipients.
4.
The MRJS Outstanding PST Award recipient will be presented with the award and give a talk at the Annual PST Conference.

Eligibility of candidates

Candidates must be working in Thailand at a recognized university, research institute or company, and have had their major affiliation in Thailand for at least 10 years.
3.
Candidates must have been members of the Protein Society of Thailand for at least 5 year.

Procedure
1.
An announcement seeking nominations for the Award will be made, usually by 30 April 2017.

Evaluation Process
1.
The PST President will appoint an evaluation committee of 3-5 experts to select the recipient(s), whose decision will be considered final.
2.
Applicants will be evaluated on the basis of the impact of their research in or related to proteins, as judged by publications, citations, awards and other indicators of excellence.
3.
Consideration will be also made to contributions in developing research areas in protein science previously less well covered in Thailand, and to activities providing service to the protein research community and/or PST.
