The Center for Protein Structure and Function, Faculty of Science, Mahidol University and the Laboratory of Biochemistry, Chulabhorn Research Institute have successfully held three successful protein research symposia. The first two were held in 2001 and 2005 as annual meetings of Protein Research as part of network activities of Professor M.R. Jisnuson Svasti’s TRF Senior Research Scholar, while the third was held in 2006 as the First Annual Symposium of the Protein Society of Thailand (PST) with the objectives to strengthen protein research capabilities and to foster protein research network activities.

The 2nd Annual Symposium of Protein Society of Thailand: Odysseys in Protein Research will be held at Chulabhorn Research Institute Conference Center between September 20-21, 2007 and, as in previous years, is supported by the Thailand Research Fund (TRF), Faculty of Science, Mahidol University and Chulabhorn Research Institute (CRI). The 2nd Annual symposium also marks a commemorated event to celebrate Professor M.R. Jisnuson Svasti’s 60th birthday. The scientific contents of the symposium will encompass broad areas of protein research covering topics from basic protein studies to advanced studies of protein functions exploiting cutting-edge technologies, advanced molecular techniques and high-throughput technologies to gain deeper insights into protein functions and protein interactions in complex biological systems. Attendants will have the opportunity to listen to keynote lectures delivered by a number of Outstanding Scientists who are not only top researchers in Thailand but are also colleagues and long-time friends of Professor Jisnuson Svasti. Other highlights of the program include presentations from invited speakers, oral and poster presentations by young scientists and students, making the venue of the symposium a platform for knowledge sharing and intellectual discussion among Thai protein researchers.

As in previous year, there is no registration fee for attending the symposium. However, seats are limited and hence registration is required in order to reserve your seat. Program and Abstract book plus complimentary CD containing useful protein protocols and important links will be provided only for registered members of Protein Society of Thailand (PST) who show up in the symposium. Members of PST will receive coupons for symposium lunch. For non-members, however, lunch coupons at 150 baht/lunch will be available for purchase at the symposium site. Please visit http://cbag2.sc.mahidol.ac.th/protein/symposium07 for more information and updates of the symposium news.
