Joint AOHUPO-AOAPO-SSMS Congress 2023
8th-10th of May 2023, Singapore

November 29, 2022

Welcom Message

We are pleased to announce that, the Joint 11th Asia Oceania Human Proteome Organization (AOHUPO) and 7th Asia Oceania Agricultural Proteomics Organization (AOAPO) Congress will be held in Singapore from 8th-10th of May 2023, in conjunction with the annual conference of Singapore Society for Mass Spectrometry (SSMS). This event is co-organized by SSMS and the Malaysian Proteomics Society (MAPS). The congress will be held at MAX Atria @ Singapore EXPO.

Established in 2001, AOHUPO aims to promote and coordinate the activities of the regional proteomics community. Currently it has active council members from seventeen AO member countries, and it has organized biennial conferences since 2002. However, the 10th AOHUPO congress that was scheduled to be held in Busan, Korea in 2020 was postponed to 2021 with a hybrid format due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Meanwhile, AOAPO was established in 2010 to further the cooperation on agricultural proteomics in the AO region, and it covers diverse areas including the proteomics of crops, food, insects, microbes, and animals. SSMS was initially tasked to organize the 7th AOAPO conference in Singapore in 2020, but it was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In late 2021, MAPS was approached by SSMS to explore the possibility of co-hosting the 11th AOHUPO congress. After several rounds of discussion, it was decided to co-organize the joint AOHUPO-AOAPO congress in Singapore by both societies in May 2023.

We are planning for a 3-day face-to-face joint congress that will feature distinguished invited speakers in 5 plenary sessions and 27 concurrent sessions, covering broad topics of proteomics and mass spectrometry technologies and applications in health/biomedical research, agriculture/aquaculture, food and environmental sciences. Congress participants will have the opportunity to submit abstracts for oral and poster presentations. In addition, we have also planned to hold a Young Scientist Forum (YSF) for young scientists as a preconference activity. Lastly, some of our corporate sponsors will be given the opportunity to conduct daily lunch time workshops and to present their products and solutions at exhibition booths.

It is a huge relief that COVID-19 is largely under control globally, and most countries have re-opened their borders. Thus, this joint congress will be a great opportunity for regional proteomics and mass spectrometry scientists to meet in Singapore to exchange ideas and to present their latest findings. In addition, it is also an opportune time for the research community to get reconnected, and to renew friendships after the long pandemic period.

We look forward to seeing you in the beautiful metropolitan Singapore in May 2023! WELCOME.
