Recent advances in protein analysis and high throughput technology for protein characterization underscore the need to promote effective utilization of these technologies and sharing of common resources for protein research among Thai investigators. Although there are a number of protein experts working in various universities and institutions, protein research in Thailand has been growing rather slowly. This is mainly because little effort has been devoted towards networking among protein researchers, so as to promote and strengthen collaborative research, and to drive the development of protein research in Thailand to specifically address questions of national importance. The Protein Society of Thailand (PST) was created to fill these gaps by promoting and strengthening collaboration, as well as sharing of information and complementary expertise among protein investigators in Thailand.
