2026 M.R. Jisnuson Svasti Young Protein Scientist of Thailand Award

January 20, 2026

Concept

Protein research in Thailand has advanced significantly over the last 30 years, including the establishment of the Protein Society of Thailand (PST) in 2006. In 2017, M.R. Jisnuson Svasti provided an endowment to PST to establish the Outstanding Protein Scientist of Thailand Award (Outstanding PST Award) and the Young Protein Scientist Award (Young PST Award) to recognize outstanding researchers in protein science and promote protein research. Recipients of the Outstanding PST Award include Professor James Ketudat Cairns (2017), Professor Pimchai Chaiyen (2019), Dr. Sitiruk Roytrakul (2023) and Prof. Somchai Pinlaor (2025). The “M.R. Jisnuson Svasti Young Protein Scientist of Thailand Award” was introduced in 2018 to promote recognition of young protein scientists in Thailand with excellent research records and was given to Associate Professor Dr. Kunlaya Somboonwiwat and Assistant Professor Dr. Thanyada Rungrotmongkol of Chulalongkorn University. In 2020, it was awarded to Assistant Professor Dr. Atit Silsirivanit of Khon Kaen University and Assistant Professor Dr. Danaya Pakotiprapha of Mahidol University, in 2022 it was awarded to Associate Professor Dr. Varodom Charoensawan of Mahidol University and Dr. Chayasith Uttamapinant of Vidyasirimedhi Institute of Science and Technology (VISTEC). In 2024, it was awarded to Asst. Prof. Kittikhun Wangkanont of Chulalongkorn University and Asst. Prof. Thanyaporn Wongnate of VISTEC.

It is once again time to recognize outstanding young protein scientists in Thailand with the M.R. Jisnuson Svasti Young Protein Scientist of Thailand Award in 2026.

Plaque of recognition with cash reward of 30,000 Baht.
2.
One awardee will be selected. However, if two candidates are deemed to have essentially equal merit, the award may be shared by two awardees.
