The Center for Protein Structure and Function, Faculty of Science, Mahidol University and the Laboratory of Biochemistry, Chulabhorn Research Institute previously held two protein research symposia in 2001 and 2005. Both attracted hundreds of participants from many diverse institutions, and were highly successful. These led to the establishment of the Protein Society of Thailand (PST) in January 2006, which marks the beginning of serious efforts to strengthen protein research capabilities and to promote  networking among protein researchers in Thailand.

This symposium represents the first annual symposium of the Society and is supported by The Thailand Research Fund, Chulabhorn Research Institute, and Faculty of Science, Mahidol University.  The objective of the Symposium is to allow protein researchers in Thailand to keep abreast with this rapidly growing area, and to exchange knowledge and expertise.  The topics to be covered range from classical protein studies, three-dimensional structure and function, proteomics to applications of advanced molecular techniques and high-throughput technologies to study protein interactions, with the ultimate goal of gaining deeper insights into complex biological systems.

The highlights of the program include keynote lectures by renowned protein experts, and invited lectures from well-known Thai scientists.  Oral and poster presentations by young scientists and students will provide a platform for intellectual discussion, exchange of knowledge and collaboration.

There is no registration fee for attending the symposium, but registration is required in order to secure your seats.  Members of the Protein Society of Thailand will receive coupons for symposium lunch. For non-members, however, lunch coupons will be available for purchase at the Symposium site (150 baht/lunch).
